Behind the Scenes: Live Broadcast for BBC Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg
solo16 supplied a live broadcast contribution for BBC One’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg on 25 October 2026, featuring Daisy Cooper MP. With insufficient 4G connectivity at the location, our crew used LiveU broadcast equipment and Starlink satellite internet to deliver the live feed.
Our role was to deliver a reliable, broadcast-quality live feed into the BBC programme, overcoming challenging connectivity conditions at a remote Somerset location.
Overcoming Poor 4G Connectivity
Reliable connectivity is essential for live television, particularly when contributing to a national programme where there is no room for interruptions.
Unfortunately, the available 4G mobile signal wasn’t strong enough to support a dependable live broadcast.
To overcome this, we deployed our Starlink satellite dish which provided the main connectivity needed to deliver the live contribution.
Combining professional broadcast technology with satellite connectivity allows us to operate from locations where conventional mobile networks may struggle.
